Hot Landscape (Sold)
During a summer in southern France and an artist residency in Andalusia, Spain, I was captivated by the stunning landscapes—golden mountains, lush vineyards, and pastel skies at dawn and dusk. Yet, the extreme drought and scorching heat were impossible to ignore. Dry land, anxious farmers, and nearby forest fires filled the air with smoke, a scene repeated globally as temperatures rise due to climate change.
This work celebrates nature’s beauty while expressing fear for its future. The colors and materials—repurposed textile scraps on a painted cotton and acrylic background—mirror both admiration and urgency. How much hotter will our lands become? Will we lose the landscapes we cherish, part of our natural and cultural heritage? The piece asks: Do we need more signs to act?
