Tell Your Story in Textiles: Interwoven Life/ Verweven Leven
Would you like to give new life to your personal textiles with your own hands, creating a tangible and meaningful artwork in which your story lives on? Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist or think you have two left hands? In the INTERWOVEN LIFE workshop, you’ll shape your memories into art. What to Bring Bring clothing or textile materials—jewelry, accessories, scarves, dried flowers, etc.—that are precious to you and tell a story about your youth, your life, or that of a (deceased) loved one. During the introduction round, you’ll share why this is important to you and what or whom you want to celebrate and cherish. Esther will write down your story, and together with Femke van Gemert, you’ll translate it into a personal textile artwork. You’ll start right away, and at the end of the day, you’ll share what you’ve created. You’ll take your artwork home with you, and your personal story will be sent to you by email later. If you’d like to work on it further, you can schedule a follow-up appointment with Esther and/or Femke to finish it completely. The workshop will be held in Dutch and English.
